Will Staatic work for your site?

Staatic publishes the pages your WordPress renders, so most themes and plugins keep working. Look up yours to see what it needs.

Look up a WordPress plugin or feature

No chip means it works in the free plugin too; Premium means any paid plan, Staatic Cloud included. Names with a docs page link to it.

  • Works: Nothing to set up.
  • Set up: Switch on a setting or add Premium.
  • Origin rule: On Staatic Cloud, a path stays live on a server.
  • Live site: Runs on a server, not on a static site.

Themes, builders and content

  • Works as is

Published as finished pages, with their archives and menus.

  • Works as is

Built-in handling for pages and popups.

  • Works as is

Built-in handling picks up Avada’s images, including WebP backgrounds.

  • Works as is

Themes build finished pages, so they publish as they look. Click through a published copy before you switch.

  • Works as is

Builders turn your layout into page HTML, so it publishes with the page. Click through a published copy before you switch.

  • Lazy-loaded images
    Works as is

Images loaded through data-src and data-srcset are published too.

  • Sliders, maps, tabs and other scripts
    Works as is

Scripts that run in the browser keep working. If one loads data from WordPress, see APIs and live endpoints.

SEO, redirects and sitemaps

  • Works as is

Titles, descriptions and structured data are part of each page, so they publish with it. Staatic also publishes the logo Yoast’s structured data points to.

  • Works as is

The WordPress sitemap is included, and robots.txt for a site at the domain root. Sitemaps listed in robots.txt, and the sitemaps inside a sitemap index, are found too. Add any others under Additional URLs.

  • Works as is

Basic redirects from Rank Math, Redirection, Safe Redirect Manager, Simple 301 Redirects and Yoast Premium are imported automatically.

  • Works as is

Redirects carry over and your WordPress 404 page becomes the static one, on Staatic Cloud and on Netlify. Other hosts and zip downloads need a setting, covered in the docs.

Analytics, security and backups

  • Site Kit, MonsterInsights and Google Tag Manager plugins
    Works as is

The tracking code they add is part of each page, so it runs in visitors’ browsers as before.

  • Complianz, Cookiebot and CookieYes
    Works as is

The cookie banner runs in the browser and remembers each visitor’s choice. Complianz’s consent log and its manage-consent block on the cookie policy page need WordPress.

  • Works as is

They keep guarding WordPress, which visitors no longer reach. Logs and backups they keep in your uploads are never published. If you turn on rate limiting, allow your server’s address, or a publication can miss pages.

Languages and networks

  • Works as is

Built-in handling, including its language URLs.

  • Polylang

Every language is published with its switcher and hreflang tags. Visitors are no longer sent to their browser’s language.

  • TranslatePress
    Works as is

Translated pages, the switcher and hreflang tags are published. Text that scripts add after the page loads stays untranslated.

  • Works as is

Each site publishes on its own, with its own settings and destination.

  • Works once set upStaatic Cloud

Subdomain networks, set up on request. Subdirectory networks and sunrise.php domain mapping are not supported.

Scheduling and publishing

  • Works as is

They appear once you publish again. With Premium, Staatic publishes them when they go live.

  • Works once set upPremium

Publishes when a post changes, or at times you set. On your own hosting, WP-Cron must run.

APIs and live endpoints

  • Stays live with an origin ruleStaatic Cloud

Send /wp-json/* or one route to your WordPress with an origin rule (needs always-on).

  • Stays live with an origin ruleStaatic Cloud

Load-more buttons and AJAX filters reach WordPress through an origin rule (needs always-on).

  • Stays live with an origin ruleStaatic Cloud

Send a path such as /app/* to your own server or public bucket, under your custom domain.

  • Works once set upPremium

Self-hosted sites can’t use origin rules. If your CDN forwards paths to a server, Premium keeps them out of publications.

Keep a few paths live with a hybrid static site

On Staatic Cloud, an origin rule sends a path such as /wp-json/* to a live server. Every other path stays static.

To your site’s WordPress
For REST routes, admin-ajax.php and plugin endpoints. Needs the always-on add-on, €9 a month per WordPress instance (one for a whole Multisite network). Not part of the trial.
To your own server
An app, an API or a public bucket, under your custom domain. Starter allows 1 path to 1 server and Professional up to 10 paths to 3 servers.
What to keep in mind
A forwarded path is live again, so protect it like any live site.
www.example.com two origin rules
  1. /wp-json/* This site’s WordPressNeeds the always-on add-on
  2. /app/* Your own server or bucketNeeds your custom domain
  3. Every other path Your static sitePublished pages and files
The first matching rule wins.

Origin rules need Staatic Cloud.

When a static site is the wrong fit

Staatic suits sites where most pages look the same for every visitor.

Visitors sign in or get their own pages
Shops with accounts and member sites need a live server. Staatic can still publish the pages around them.
Content changes by the minute
Changes go out with the next publication. Keep live stock or scores on a live page, or load them in the browser.

Not sure? Try it on your own site

Bring a copy to Staatic Cloud, free for 14 days, and click through the static version. Or tell us your plugins and we’ll tell you what to expect.

  • No payment details needed
  • The trial ends automatically
