WordPress Backups

Introduction

Staatic automatically creates backups of your managed WordPress instance, which include WordPress files, plugins, themes, uploads and database. In addition, manual backups can be created on demand, allowing you to make changes to your WordPress installation without any risk.

Backups can be restored at any time and are available to be downloaded in a supported archive type.

Automated backup schedule

The fixed schedule for automated backups looks like this.

  • Daily backup at 02:00 UTC (backups retained for 7 days)
  • Weekly backup at 04:00 UTC (backups retained for 3 weeks)
  • Monthly backup at 06:00 UTC (backups retained for 3 months)

Creating a manual backup

At any time you are able to create a manual backup of your managed WordPress instance.

  1. Go to app.staatic.com and login with your account details.
  2. Click Account > Sites. Then click on the View Icon next to the relevant site.
  3. Click the Backups tab. Then click Create WordPress Backup.
  4. Enter a Description for this backup and click Create WordPress Backup.

The backup process will start automatically and the status of the process will be visible on the backup details page. Once the backup process completes, you will be able to download the backup as a .zip file (or any other supported archive type), or restore the backup.

Restoring a backup

In order to restore a WordPress backup, follow the following procedure.

  1. Go to app.staatic.com and login with your account details.
  2. Click Account > Sites. Then click on the View Icon next to the relevant site.
  3. Click the Backups tab.
  4. Locate the relevant backup and click on the View Icon next to it.
  5. In the action bar select WordPress Backup > Restore Backup.
  6. Choose whether to restore the database and/or files and click Restore.

The restore process will start automatically and the status of the process will be visible on the site details page within the WordPress tab.

Note: while the backup is being restored, your WordPress instance will be unavailable. Once the restore completes, you will be able to access your WordPress instance again. This process does not affect your public static site.

Downloading a backup
